Groundhog Day 1992 – my 20th birthday.

Later that year, I was blessed to have had the opportunity to spend my junior year in Nottingham, England, as part of a study-abroad program(me) offered by my alma mater, Luther College.  While there, a key part of my experience was the ability to travel 1,600 miles of coast of the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland by bicycle.  Those adventures were life-changing, and I promised myself that I would remember and commit to traveling and furthering my worldview as often as I could.

Groundhog Day 2012 – my 40th birthday.

I am committed to a new two-wheeled adventure.  To mark this occasion, in May/June 2012, I’ll embark on a 5,836 mile journey through the American Northwest.  I will be trailering my 2009 BMW R1200GS motorcycle to Steamboat Springs, Colorado, and riding the bike from there.

Joining me on segments of the trip are my friends Bryan and Ed from the Twin Cities, and Zach from Seattle. My wife, Kristen, will also be joining me in Steamboat Springs.

20 years have brought incredible technological change to all of our lives.  My goal is to capture the trip’s moments, and use those technologies to share the experience with you.  Thanks for joining me. It’s going to be a helluva ride and adventure.
